THAT SENSE OF SPACE

"A dream in white, this modern shaker-style kitchen is a far cry from what it looked like pre-reno. The old kitchen looked dated and had limited and awkward access to the pantry area. The brief for Premier Kitchens was clear: make it entertainment ready. That meant quite a lot of things. The first of them was creating an open and spacious kitchen with loads of benchtop and storage space. The second was giving it an elegant feel. Then, practical considerations kicked in. The pantry space had to be increased and turned into a walk-in one. There was also a need for space to put appliances away to keep the main kitchen clear. Hence, what you see now is a cook’s paradise with ample benchtop space. The big walk-in butler’s pantry provides even more storage for appliances and food, leaving the kitchen clean and free of clutter. The gorgeous brass Lo and Co handles lend sophistication and style to the space. Needless to say, the kitchen is now an amazing space that combines the outdoors and is worthy of socialising with friends and family. The fact that it looks so great is an added bonus."

GRAND DESIGN

"The owners of this kitchen wanted a space that suited the dramatic facade of their circa 1880s terrace. They now have a room that not only captures this majestic aesthetic, but also incorporates a grand design.

Upon entering this kitchen, your eyes are drawn to the striking mantle and stove. The mantle shelf features double Federation capping to truly capture that opulent style, with decorative cabinetry and drawers to the bench complementing it. Fluted pilasters either side of the stove unit and in the island ensure this theme is carried throughout the room.

The pilasters aren’t the only thing worth noting about the island bench. This is the perfect central prep space, with ample storage underneath to ensure maximum functionality. The detailed marble benchtop again pays homage to the grand provincial style of the home’s design. A second equally striking marble is then used in the bench space around the room’s border.

Multiple preparation and cooking stations were catered for, allowing for a large family to cook in the kitchen together.."

A CENTREPIECE

“This modern kitchen incorporates the latest technology in understated style. Camouflaged in a colour palette both light and earthy are a laundry concealed behind bi-fold doors, two integrated fridge/freezers and a double integrated dishwasher with false drawer fronts. Interactivity is key in this long, entertaining kitchen as it faces outside and connects the living and dining rooms. A socially minded, curved island bench includes stools that front the five-burner gas cooktop and each other, perfect for communicative cooking and eating. A sophisticated, double wall-mounted oven is perfect for dinner parties. New Age Veneers drawers and panels match the natural timber flooring and Fair Bianca paint in a kitchen that is awash with natural light. This smooth space is replete with hidden features, including a Vintec wine fridge adjoining a bookshelf beneath the Carrara quartz island benchtop and a bench-mounted rangehood using downdraft technology. BLACK ON BLACK

"Industrial style meets modern finesse in this black-on-black kitchen. While all kitchens need to look fantastic, in this studio apartment, appearance was a major design consideration
as the kitchen can be seen from every angle of the 120sqm space. This meant a stylish yet understated aesthetic was a must.
appliances were integrated for a seamless look, and the PITT gas burners and downdraft extractor unit were cut directly into the Neolith stone benchtop. This required a great deal of precision and a very skilled stonemason was employed to complete the task. The benchtop itself was crafted from a single piece of stone, and while it may have been difficult to get it into the apartment, it was worth it for the join-line-free finish.
This room is perfect for entertaining, with plenty of storage and even a large Vintec wine fridge to keep the drinks at the perfect temperature. blum lift-up overhead cabinets make accessing items a breeze."

THE WOW FACTOR

"Choosing a kitchen with a strong colour scheme can feel like a big risk, but not when you’re working with experts like the team at Premier Kitchens. The use of feature green in the cabinetry in this kitchen has truly given the room a wow factor. This green is perfectly balanced by the warmth of the oak Polytec cabinetry and the crisp white 5m-high walls. Thanks to windows at the very top, light is plentiful and the whole space has a nice airy feel to
it. One of the things that makes this kitchen exceptional is the splashback. Neolith Estatuario Silk was a fabulous choice as it not only looks good, but is incredibly durable and heat resistant too. The homeowner loves that its crisp white background with the marble vein beautifully ties together the green and timber colours. This kitchen is also extremely practical thanks to the extensive storage and the butler’s pantry, perfect for prepping and keeping kitchen mess contained."

ARCHITECTURAL FEAT

"This stunning kitchen was completed as part of a knockdown-rebuild project by architectural practice Chrofi. For the redesign of the home’s 50-year-old kitchen, the homeowners requested an open-plan, minimalist space that would be functional and suitable for entertaining. They wanted an extra-long showpiece island benchtop that could house two dishwashers, a bar fridge and storage drawers, without any join lines on the benchtop. This was a challenge as the chosen stone slabs came in a maximum size of 3 metres. The solution was a cantilevered top, to offset the wider base on the island. The benchtop was so big and heavy it could not be carried into the house by hand as usual, so was lowered into the property by crane from the street. Matching stone was chosen for the splashback, to add continuation to the design. Though the homeowners initially requested white cabinetry, they realised that darker cabinets would create a more interesting contrast to their benchtop and changed their preferences accordingly. They chose a black Zip instant boiling water tap for inclusion, which very quickly became their favourite kitchen item. This Kitchen's hidden butler’s pantry is among its standout features. The homeowners wanted to keep the main kitchen clear of power points, cords and cables, so all appliances are housed in the butler’s pantry. That leaves the stunning kitchen neat and clean at all times."

SERENE & STYLISH

"This generously appointed kitchen features open timber shelving with a marble splashback behind. The timber detail blends with the timber flooring and breaks up the expanse of white. Before the renovation, the kitchen was U-shaped, with dark-profiled timber cabinetry. The new colour palette is modern and tasteful. The minimal profile detailing on the doors introduces texture into this all-white kitchen. Its contemporary clean lines are modern and sleek. The owners wanted an uncluttered space, so the walk-in pantry is perfect as it provides room to store small appliances. It was constructed entirely of cabinetry, with bifold profiled doors to match. A custom bar with bifold door houses a wine fridge, which echoes the kitchen details with integrated strip lighting to create a luxe space."

PERIOD STYLE

"When your home is a historical beauty, you don’t want a modern kitchen. Instead, you need to pay tribute to times gone by with a period piece that honours the past yet offers all the modern conveniences of a kitchen built today. That’s exactly what’s happened in this beautiful space from Premier Kitchens. This home was built in 1910 and had already been renovated throughout. The kitchen was the final piece of the puzzle — and it has now slotted perfectly into place. Step inside and enjoy a sense of grandeur. Immediately the eye is drawn to the island, which the Premier Kitchens team extended to accommodate the homeowners’ family. The stone-profiled waterfalls and pilasters on this island make a statement, exuding luxury and capturing that period feel before you even make it into the main body of the kitchen. Once you do, the rest of the space does not disappoint. Integrated appliances in this classicstyle kitchen ensure the heroes of the space are the true focal points, without the competing gleam of a dishwasher or fridge. Different working zones were also considered to allow this busy working family to use the kitchen at the same time. Quality cabinetry is evident in this room. Clean profiles with Shaker detailing are perfect for the period, and the use of bronze handles not only suit the room’s classic feel, but meet modern trends and marry up with the tapware, creating another point of cohesion in the space."

LIGHT AND BRIGHT

"This kitchen is part of a large renovation of an older house on Sydney's North Shore. The homeowner wanted to combine the aesthetic of a classic English kitchen from her heritage with an Australian beach feel, drawing on the location of the house. The designer worked with the homeowner on a number of different designs before settling on this as their final choice. The kitchen opens up onto a beautiful deck with water views, which houses a custom-built barbecue with a stone benchtop surround, just outside for easy use. The main design considerations were giving the homeowner a stunning kitchen for entertaining and sharing with her family, while also being a very practical and useable space for a family of five. The design includes a lovely butler’s pantry that allows for all the preparation to take place away from the main kitchen, especially with its oven and microwave stack, separate sink and Billi boiling and sparkling water system. The butler’s pantry also has an integrated laundry and French doors that open to the back courtyard area. The main kitchen has a gorgeous essastone Unique Calacatta island and beautiful Shaws butler’s sink with a tap from Perrin & Rowe."

BOLD AND EDGY

"Modern and dramatic, this kitchen renovation oozes bold creativity from every corner. From the beautiful benchtop to the spacious open pantry, the stylish update by Premier Kitchens has given this once outdated space a new lease on life. The homeowners were after a redesign that was unique and eye-catching, a departure from the classic all-white kitchen styles you’d normally see in Australian homes. They wanted something a little more edgy and Premier Kitchens has achieved this through close attention to detail and a contrasting colour palette. Notice the gentle curves on the benchtop, giving the space a more graceful and elegant feel. A small detail like that is both beautiful and functional, reducing the possibility of injuries in the kitchen. The team at Premier Kitchens opted for Super White Dolomite as the benchtop base. Less porous than marble, this material is not as prone to staining and water damage. But the best part? It’s heat-resistant and incredibly sturdy, making it less likely to chip, crack or scratch over time. For homeowners who love to cook up a storm and make a mess in the kitchen, an enduring material like this is certainly the perfect choice. And let’s not forget the ample space underneath, which makes it easy to store stools and chairs, turning the kitchen into a place of entertainment and the occasional work-from-home desk, rather than just being a place to prepare food. Along with the striking colour palette that enhances the bold feel of the space — namely the combination of natural wood hues, grey, black and white — the result is a modern kitchen full of intrigue and sophistication."

NATURE AT HER FINEST

"This kitchen from Premier Kitchens is all about optimising the home’s striking surrounds. Nature is at her finest here and the Premier team were determined to show her off. Prior to the renovation, the kitchen was dated and largely blocked the stunning view on show when entering the house. The Premier Kitchens team changed the layout entirely, maximising the view by designing a much better flow in the home. The curve in the island is the perfect addition to the space. Curves reflect the softness of nature, linking this bench to the stunning view from the window. The clever use of lightercoloured timber in the pendants and on the bar stools solidifies this connection, emphasising that this space is part of something bigger — the great outdoors. The colour scheme in this kitchen is modern and sophisticated, but there’s a real sense of earthiness to it. Sleek grey and black are teamed with the woodgrain on the bench with stunning results. Seamlessly integrated appliances were a must to ensure nothing needlessly distracted the eye. A sense of continued flow was achieved with the push-to-open cabinetry, eliminating the need for handles that jut out into the space. Finally, a small hidden step-in appliance cabinet allows easy access to all those frequent use appliances without creating benchtop clutter."

A STYLISH UPDATE

"Dramatic and modern, this kitchen delivers the design update these homeowners were looking for when renovating their architectural home. They wanted a more modern and open space that offered a bar area near the dining room. There was a desire for drama in the design, so a monochromatic cabinetry palette was selected. Finished in contrasting satin and matt textures, this works to complement the feature floor tiling that was preserved from the original kitchen. Detailing through the rounded handles elevates the design and lends a hint of playfulness. The slick, modern feel to the space is continued through to the pop-up rangehood behind the fabulous Pitt burners and the electric lift-up systems on the overhead cabinets. Black internal carcasses enhance the bold aesthetic, creating intrigue and sophistication. Negative space in the island joinery between the benchtop and stone ends adds to this, creating visual detail to enrich the area. The overall design is bold and dramatic, echoing the architectural nature of the home. Designer Anita Mitchell for Premier Kitchens"

STYLE IN SIMPLICITY

"A kitchen doesn’t have to be an attention grabbing space that the rest of the home revolves around. Some of the very best kitchens are simple in style, with a more minimalist theme. Such is the case with this Premier Kitchens creation. Clever design, attention to the owners’ needs and a focus on family have ensured this space is not only simple, but stylish too. Thanks to the integrated appliances and the oven having its own unique built-in area, your eye is drawn to the generous island bench, which provides plenty of preparation space. The icing on the cake is the integrated dining table at the end of it. This allows the family to sit down and enjoy more formal dining than what simple under-bench seating can offer, and makes this room feel less like a kitchen and more like an opportunity for the family and guests to enjoy a meal together. A butler’s pantry off the back of the kitchen is another way this room sustains its streamlined look. It ensures mess and pantry items are kept out of sight, yet are easy to access." MINIMALIST CHIC

“The removal of several walls in this penthouse unit has allowed for a bigger kitchen and also maximises the space in the living/dining room. This is a drastic change from the previous old and dilapidated laminate kitchen, which had a poor layout. With the new more practical design, enough space has been saved to add a second bathroom to the unit.

All appliances have been seamlessly integrated into the kitchen, which also conceals a laundry behind Hettich bi-fold doors. The Silestone engineered stone in the colour Chrome, combined with the matte, textured finish on all cabinetry, creates an arresting aesthetic. The result is a sleek, minimalist design made striking by the modern, dark industrial touches.”

COASTAL CREATION

“A complete home renovation enabled the new kitchen to be relocated to better soak in the ocean views, while offering a fresh appearance and functionality. The beautiful open-plan space was infused with a Hamptons aesthetic — simple and elegant so as not to compete with the views. The large glass doors allow the homeowners to enjoy their incredible view while cooking as light permeates the room.

The working area was kept separate to the main open space, with facilities like the sink and bins located in the butler’s pantry. Clutter and mess were also confined to the butler’s pantry to ensure this feature kitchen remained clean and food still within easy reach of the dining area. The beauty of the incredible quartz benchtop and splashback is further magnified by the contrasting Dulux Pacific Line colour of the island. A true coastal dream.”

LUXE LIVING

“This home’s previous kitchen, though still in good condition, was outdated and a little too beige. Although the space available was quite large, there was previously no island in the centre, decreasing the kitchen’s functionality significantly. The homeowners made the call to renovate, opting for a unique, on-trend design. They requested a highly functional space, with matt black finishes and all the latest accessories from Blum for the drawer internals.

Ensuring the new kitchen fitted in seamlessly with the home’s existing aesthetic was a design consideration that played an important role in the renovation’s end result. Prior to the renovation, the homeowners had replaced the original floors with beautiful timber boards in a herringbone pattern. The matt black finishes juxtapose the flooring beautifully and further timber elements were added to the space to soften the look. The island benchtop was included for optimum functionality. The gorgeous stone used for the benchtop was also wrapped around the appliance area, injecting an extra element of luxuriousness to the space.”

AN ENTERTAINING SPACE

“As the residence’s original kitchen was becoming dilapidated, the homeowners decided to knock it down and place it in a different part of the house prior to designing and building the gorgeous kitchen pictured. The homeowners love to entertain, so they requested the kitchen be the centrepiece of the entertaining area at the rear of the house. Large sliding doors were installed to allow the space to extend seamlessly out to the patio, garden, barbecue and pool at the rear of the home, forming one large entertaining area. Given the space’s importance within the home, it had to be aesthetically pleasing. With this in mind, gorgeous Ross Gardam pendants were selected to add an element of luxe to the space. Byron Blackbutt veneer, polyurethane in Domino and gorgeous quartz were chosen as the space’s main materials to add warmth to what is predominantly a very modern home.” Designer: Craig Seldon for Premier Kitchens Australia
